Laurel Ailie – President
Laurel is a graduate of the University of Washington. She has a background in teaching ESL which gave her insights into the difficulties students encounter with traditional English programs and the drive to find another way. She started ECHS 16 years ago and it has grown steadily since then. In her free time she loves to visit her favorite coffee shops, walk her dogs, do volunteer work, and travel.
Alan Ailie – CFO
Alan holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration and Marketing and had a long successful career at Boeing Co. He now works exclusively for ECHS. In his free time he is a blossoming artist and neighborhood coffee shops display his work. He can often be found hammer in hand keeping the Ailie home in good repair. He also enjoys reading, sports of all kinds, and travel.
Mizuho Harnetiaux – Lead Booking Coordinator
Mizuho came to the US in 1999 as a student at Willamette University in Oregon. She has a BA in International Relations. She previously worked as a tour coordinator. She has worked for ECHS for 7 years. Learning from her own experience of living in a foreign culture, it is her pleasure to support students going through their journey. In her free time she enjoys reading, dancing and exploring with her husband and 2 children.
Aki Day – Booking Coordinator
Aki was born in Osaka, Japan and moved to the US with her husband in 2000. She holds a BA in Economics. She has a background working with Seniors and their families. In her role with ECHS, she is excited to help students prepare for their future. In her free time she loves to sweat out stress by practicing hot yoga. She likes to hike and to eat different kinds of food with her husband and two daughters.
Megumi Kalenderian- Marketing and Contracts
Megumi was born in Japan and came to the US in 1999 as a student. She holds an MBA in Marketing and has an extensive background connecting quality service to the market needs. She has experience in both being an exchange student and host family. Her goal is to reach as many students as possible to introduce our program since a teacher’s homestay is a life-changing experience and still new to many countries. She enjoys reading, running, and skiing with her husband and her two children.
